Marmara University was entitled to receive a research university label from the 'Research Oriented Specialization Program'. At the Research Universities meeting held at the Ankara Bilkent Hotel by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the research university certificate of our university was presented by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank and the President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar to our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt.

At the ceremony, YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar said that “Research universities usually attract the best and brightest students of the countries and employ the most qualified academics. These universities, which are central universities providing doctoral level education, also produce the majority of research outputs. The organization of these universities focuses on research into award structures and academic culture. In the hierarchy of academic values, although teaching and consultancy services remain important, research is at the top.” said.
